The Premier League has not yet announced the free-to-air (FTA) channels that will broadcast matches in 2024. However, it is expected that the current deals with Sky Sports, BT Sport, and Amazon Prime Video will be renewed.
Sky Sports has been broadcasting Premier League matches since 1992 and currently holds the rights to show 128 matches per season. BT Sport has been broadcasting Premier League matches since 2013 and currently holds the rights to show 52 matches per season. Amazon Prime Video has been broadcasting Premier League matches since 2019 and currently holds the rights to show 20 matches per season.
It is also possible that the Premier League could strike a new deal with a different FTA channel. In 2021, the BBC was reportedly in talks with the Premier League about broadcasting matches, but the talks ultimately broke down.
The Premier League is the most-watched football league in the world, and the FTA rights are worth billions of pounds. The bidding process for the 2024-2027 FTA rights is expected to be very competitive.
Here are some of the free-to-air channels that could potentially broadcast Premier League matches in 2024:
- BBC
- ITV
- Channel 4
- Sky Sports
- BT Sport
- Amazon Prime Video
