As the Spurs win Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Knicks supporters mock Trump
The New York Knicks' 13-game postseason winning streak was ended last night when they lost Game 3 of the NBA Finals to the San Antonio Spurs.
Referees were chastised by Knicks coach Mike Brown for the difference in the two teams' free throw attempts. Online fans, however, came up with several explanations for the Knicks' defeat: President Trump attended the game. For the first time, an NBA Finals game was attended by a sitting president.
Sports journalist Albert Samaha told Morning Edition, "The crowd booed more loudly when Trump appeared on the jumbotron during the national anthem than when the Spurs came on the court."
"I think it was mostly cheers," President Trump subsequently told reporters. It was boisterous and full of energy.
