When & Where Is the
2026 World Cup?
The 2026 FIFA World Cup takes place from Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, July 19, 2026, spanning 39 days of football across North America. It will be the largest World Cup in history — the first to feature 48 teams, up from 32 in 2022 — producing a record 104 matches played across 16 stadiums in three host nations.
The tournament is co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The USA stages the majority of matches (60), while Canada and Mexico host fixtures across their respective cities. The groups were finalized following the Final Draw on December 5, 2025 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the last qualifying matches on March 31, 2026.
For the group stage, 48 teams are divided into 12 groups of four. The top two teams in each group, plus the eight best third-place finishers, advance to a new Round of 32 — all matches from that point are knockout format.
