Michael Parkinson is a British television presenter and journalist who is best known for his long-running chat show, Parkinson. The show aired on BBC1 from 1971 to 2007 and featured interviews with some of the biggest names in the world of entertainment, politics, and sport.
Parkinson was born in 1935 in Leeds, England. He began his career as a journalist, working for the BBC and the Daily Mirror. In 1971, he launched his own chat show, Parkinson. The show quickly became a hit and ran for over 30 years.
Parkinson interviewed some of the most famous people in the world, including Muhammad Ali, Marilyn Monroe, and Margaret Thatcher. He was known for his gentle but probing interviews, which often revealed new insights into his guests.
