Tropical Depression 3 Forms in the Central Atlantic
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued advisories on Tropical Depression Three, which is located over the central Tropical Atlantic. The depression is expected to move generally westward at 15 to 20 mph with further development across the central tropical Atlantic through the middle part of this week. The depression formed on Monday, June 19, 2023, from an area of low pressure that had been tracking westward across the Atlantic Ocean. The depression is currently located about halfway between Africa and the Lesser Antilles. It has maximum sustained winds of 30 mph and is moving west-northwest at 15 mph. The NHC is forecasting that the depression will continue to move westward at 15 to 20 mph. It is expected to become a tropical storm by Wednesday, June 21, and a hurricane by Thursday, June 22.
