Disney+ Leaves Astra 1M at 19.2°E

Alex

Disney+, the popular streaming service from The Walt Disney Company, has left Astra 1M at 19.2°E. The channel was available on the satellite at 11856.00MHz, pol.V (DVB-S2 SID:8214 PID:1410[MPEG-4] /1421 French).

Disney+ has not announced why it has left Astra 1M. However, it is possible that the company is looking to consolidate its distribution on fewer satellites. Disney+ is currently available on a number of satellites, including SES 12 at 119.0°E, Hot Bird 13C at 13 degrees East, and Eutelsat 5 West A at 5 degrees West.

The departure of Disney+ from Astra 1M is a blow to the satellite. Astra 1M is one of the most popular satellites in Europe, and it is home to a number of other popular channels, including Sky News, Eurosport, and RTL.

It is unclear what will happen to the frequency that Disney+ was using on Astra 1M. It is possible that SES will make the frequency available to other broadcasters, or it could be used for future Disney+ channels.

The departure of Disney+ from Astra 1M is a reminder that the streaming wars are heating up. As more and more streaming services launch, they are competing for subscribers and content. This is likely to lead to more changes in the way that content is distributed in the future.
